Skincare Wishlist
So I am not really one or shelling out on skincare.  My current collection consists of a micellar water, some toner I got in Poundland, a Body Shop vitamin E moisturiser and an eye roll on I have probably had for twice as long as I should have. I also have face wipes that I use every night and morning, and an Avon facewash that I sometimes use in the shower. Other than this it's an occasional face mask or blackhead strip and I'm done.

I do however have an interest in skincare and a need to add more to my routine. I would love to have a collection of skincare products that I use twice daily that do wonders for my skin, but financially I just cannot do that just yet. One day I will have the skincare collection of my dreams and wonderful, even, blemish-free skin, but until then, I am going to spend my time pining over beautiful products, making lists for the future.

01- Sunday Riley Martian Mattifying Melting Water-Gel Toner £48.00
02- Mario Badescu Drying Lotion 29ml £16.00
03- YesTo Grapefruit Correcting Serum £14.95

05- E.L.F Daily Hydration Moisturizer SPF 15 £9.00
06- Neutrogena Visibly Clear Pore & Shine In-Shower Mask £4.99
07- Soap & Glory Puffy Eye Attack Hydragel £12.50

Current Favourites
I don't tend to stick to the same things for very long so you might start to see a trend of 'current favourite' posts on my blog. I hope that they inspire you to try something new or give you ideas of what or who to watch and apps to try.

01- Palmer's Cocoa Butter Spray Lotion
Everything about this is my favourite. Mostly how easy it is to put on, but it smells incredible too, and the size of the bottle means it lasts ages.

02- Flying the Nest
Recently I have been obsessed with travel in general and this couple's vlog gives me serious wanderlust. I love watching them go to Singapore, Japan, Israel, Croatia, Greece (their wedding video is goals) and many more places.

03- The Michalaks
I recently rediscovered The Michalaks channel after not watching their videos for a couple of years and I honestly do not know why I stopped watching them. They are the most beautifully shot videos and Hannah and Stef are so honest, unfiltered and true to themselves.

04- Samsung Tab A
I've had my tablet for around six months now and I love it. I got this specific one because it had screen mirroring capabilities and because I've wanted a tablet forever. I use it so much and if I didn't have it now I'd be completely lost. I do everything on it from reading blog posts to watching YouTube.

05Criminal Minds
I love everything about this show, from the references to famous serial killers to the way you get a look into each character's life outside of work. I also love just chilling with my boyfriend on a lazy day trying to guess who the killer is before they figure it out.

06Gerald's Game
A film about a couple who travel to a remote lakehouse for a peaceful weekend to help them overcome their 'struggles' in their marriage (aka spice things up in the bedroom in privacy). The film is all about the wife's struggle to survive whilst handcuffed to the bed after her husband suffers a heart attack.
This recently came out on Netflix and it is incredible, it is the perfect mixture of terrifying and intense and most definitely not for the light of heart. If you like thrillers over horror/ ghost films you will love Gerald's Game.

07- Libby, by Overdrive
Libby is an app created by Overdrive. Linked to your library card you can download up to 8 audio or e-books at one time, for 14 days. The app auto-returns books once the 14 days are over and the fact that it is so easy to use.

08- My Dad Wrote a Porno
This. Podcast. Is. Hillarious. I started listening to it a while back but then for some reason just stopped. I started again a few days ago and I am devastated that I now have to wait until 2018 to hear more and I am wondering where my life will be without Belinda Blumenthal.

09- Pinterest
I got back into Pinterest after reading about how beneficial it can be for bloggers, and I now have so many boards and I am always on the app on my phone. You can check out my boards here.

10- Indeed
I never thought that I would include an app/website for job searching in a favourites post but honestly, it is the best app out there for anyone who's looking for employment. The 'apply from your phone' jobs make it super easy to apply for things quickly, and they send weekly job search reports so you can see how much you're doing a week.

My Holiday in Pictures (Cartama, Spain)
Whilst I was on holiday, I made no effort to get a blog post up because I made the most of my time away with my boyfriend and his family. I was unsure of what I wanted to post when I arrived home and Tuesday rolled around, so this morning I decided that I would compile a majority picture post, of snaps I took whilst on my holiday.

Not only do I love all of the pictures that I took making it super hard to pick ones for this post, but I also wanted this to be a post sharing the improvement in my picture-taking skills, and to make the pot something I can look back on and remember my holiday.

The first thing I did on our first full day was made the most of getting a shot of the beautiful view from the roof.

I asked my boyfriend to wake me up one time whilst we were there so that I could watch the sunrise. #noregrets

I drank a million and one cups of coffee whilst I was away and now cannot stop, although I'm proud to say that around half of them were decaf, not tryna' get those caffeine headaches.

Walking up the stairs to the roof, I made the most of the chance to get yet another shot of the bright blue sky, except this time, with some stairs and walls too.

There were so many aeroplanes flying over us, that I had to take the opportunity to get a shot of one.
Also, whilst swimming/sunbathing we were trying to guess what company plane it was as they flew over. Cue me shouting 'EasyJet' from the bathroom when I heard a plane.

Whilst saving animals from the pool, my boyfriend came across this tiny praying mantis and I think I bugged it too much because it kept running (flying) from me whilst I was taking pictures of it.

One of the evenings, we went to dinner in Torremolinos, and the entire way back to the car, I trailed behind everyone else to take pictures of trees and the beach.

Whilst in search of the tobacconist, we stumbled across the most beautiful modern looking church I have ever seen.

An attempt at a cute shot of my boyfriend whilst out shopping ended up being yet another shot of him walking slightly in front of me whilst I walk slowly behind taking pictures of everything around me.

A few random pictures that I took on the way back from the town. Some rocks, a tiny bridge that my boyfriend asked if I live under, and a random puddle? of water that had some tiny frogs in it.

Yet another picture of the trees that I saw everywhere we went.

Making the most of the position of the sun through this bridge that we drove over almost every day.

The last picture I took on holiday, a tonne of olive trees I saw on the way to the airport.

10 Things I Would Save in a Fire.
So Gabby (@velvetgh0st on YouTube) started a new TAG on YouTube a while back, and now that we're back up and running I wanted to finally join in.
This post is more about the most important things to me rather than the fact that if there really was a fire I would risk my own life to run back inside and pick up all of these things that in reality I couldn't carry all at once.

01- Memory Box.
This one might be cheating a little as I do tend to keep all of my most important things in here, but I'm allowing it. Around three years ago I started getting into the habit of saving all of the things important to me in a specific box that lives under my bed. It has things from 2007 onwards and I'd be heartbroken if I lost any of it.

02- Photo Album.
For years I've ended up with all of my pictures just in clear pencil cases, but this Christmas my sister bought me a photo album so they're all finally arranged.

03- External Hard Drive.
I bought myself an external hard drive after I had a laptop that's hard drive died pretty much once a year. So it has all of my pictures on it, important documents and some of my favourite music and films too.

04- My Favourite Mug.
I have had this mug for years, and I love a huge cup of tea and it's super cute. Also, I don't think they sell it anymore so I wouldn't be able to replace it.

05- My Laptop.
Because I am doing my Batchelor's degree with The Open University, all of my work is done online, and to not be able to do so would not only mean me more than likely falling behind but also losing all of my work I have done so far, and other important things.

06- 18th/21st Birthday Box.
So my memory box was lacking in space for all of my 18th and 21st birthday cards, so I ended up having to have a completely separate box, and as I am so sentimental, I needed to keep them!

07- Teddies.
I have 4 teddies that I would want to keep, 2 pandas, 1 Winnie the Pooh character, and 1 dog. I've had the first three for years and the black and white dog was a 18th Birthday gift from my grandmother.

08- Charm Bracelet.
My Nan gave me her charm bracelet years ago and my whole life I remember always wishing I could have it, or have one just like it. It's extremely important to me and I keep it in my Mum's jewellery box to be extra cautious with it.

09- Wooden Elephant Ornaments.
This sounds like a strange choice, but they have strong sentimental value, when my great aunt passed, both me and my great-grandmother whilst clearing her home saw some wooden elephants that we both liked, but we came to the agreement that I would get the baby elephants from the set, and my great grandmother would keep the big ones.

10- Christmas Present From my Boyfriend
A few years ago at Christmas, I told my boyfriend I wanted something sentimental, something with meaning and with the heart rather than something expensive and when I opened my gift on Christmas day I cried. It has taken pride of place in my bedroom on display ever since.

21 Things I Learnt in 21 Years
I know that these posts are commonly done around Birthday's, but at the time around mine I was taking a break from blogging, so I thought this post would be a good come-back post as it's something I knew I wanted to do eventually.

01- Heartbreak is not the end of the world. You just need time.

02- Self-care is important, don't put it on the back burner to do something else.

03- Do not change yourself to suit other people.

04- Life is too short to stay mad about minor things.

05- Find a hobby that you love, and stick with it.

06- Don't be afraid to talk about things you are passionate about.

07- It's okay to sometimes spend a day doing nothing.

08- Take pictures of/ document important life moments.

09- Don't stress if you haven't yet found 'the one'.

10- Following #9, don't settle because you're afraid to be alone.

11- Be open about your mental health with the people around you.

12- Some friends aren't a permanent fixture in your life, and that's OK.

13- Tell the people in your life how much you love and appreciate them, often.

14- Don't be afraid to ask for help.

15- Don't give up when things get hard, you'll be proud that you got through it in the end.

16- Treat other people how you want to be treated, even if they do not do the same in return.

17- Do not base important decisions on other people's opinions.

18- Having real, genuine friends makes life a lot easier, and bad times more bearable.

19- Even when it doesn't feel like it, know that you have people in your life that care about you.

20- Treat yo' self! Sometimes a blowout, nail appointment and some new makeup can make a bad week great again.

21- Visiting family can sometimes feel like a chore, but do it as much as you can,  you'll regret it in the long run if you don't.

My Favourite Free iPhone Apps
Recently I was bought a Samsung Galaxy A6 tablet from my Mum as a late Birthday present, and not only do I love it, but it's also meant that my phone has so much storage now!

I basically deleted all of my streaming apps and games from my phone and installed them on my tablet, this means that I've started to use my phone as more of a helpful personal assistant. Since I had around 3GB of free storage, I decided to look for some useful apps that might help me, and that I did! So I wanted to share with you some of the apps that lately I've been loving, and using a lot.

01- Cara: tracks IBS symptoms and helps you to figure out triggers.
02- Eve: a period tracker that can be used to track period symptoms.
03- Me.Time: similar to a journal but with prompts.
04- Podcasts: to listen to whilst I fall asleep.
05- Buzzfeed: taking those quizzes is such a huge waste of time, but so entertaining!
06- Pocket: To save links from all around the web into one handy place for later.
07- Jackal: Tracks the TV seasons I am watching and the episode I am currently on.
08- ToDoMovies: Tracks the films I want to see and the films that I've already seen.

Blog Update: Plans.
If this is a return visit for you, you may know that I have been away for my blog now since early December. I am not going to make an excuse for why because I don't have one, but I wanted to make a post today just to let any readers know what my plans are for the future of LaurenAmyBlogs.

I don't want to go into too much detail of what is currently going on in my life but to put it simply I am struggling, with everything, my moods, looking for a job, motivation and studies. My studies are the most important thing at the minute as I am coming towards the end of the year which means that I have two essays and an assessment to go, which are all due in around the same time.

So, getting to the point I have decided to take a break from my blog and to wait until I have finished my first year with The Open University. Once I have finished I am free from studying until October, which will leave me enough time to get back into the swing of blogging and to become better organised.

I appreciate every single person reading my posts and I hope that anyone who reads my blog will stick with me through this break. I will be staying active on social media and I will still spend my free time planning posts and getting my blog to the point where I am happy with it.

What's on my iPhone?

Firstly I want to apologise for the complete state that my blog is currently in. I'm having a lot of trouble trying to find a theme and I wanted to leave it as plain as possible until I find one that I like.

I was completely stuck whilst thinking of a new post to write, I liked the ease of my old blog, knowing that each week I could pick out a random piece of makeup from my makeup bag and I could write a quick review of it. So this time around I'm finding it a lot harder to think of things to write about, firstly things that I want to write about and share, and secondly, things that people would like to read.

I decided to do a 'whats on my iPhone' post today as I'd like to share with anyone reading the apps that I use and love, although some are boring and I won't go into any detail about them, I will talk a little about my favourites.

My wallpaper which you can half see in the background of the main photo is of a butterfly resting on a plant in my grandparents garden. Pictures like this make me remember; 1, why I love my grandparent's house and garden so much, and 2, how much I love taking pictures.

First Page:
Messages, Calendar, Photos, Camera,
Contacts, Notes, App Store, Settings,
FaceTime, Clock, iBooks, Utilities Folder
(Reminders, Podcasts, Calculator, Health,
Find iPhone, Wallet, iTunes Store, Weather, Maps),
Smart Bank, My Vodafone

Smart Bank is the app I use to check my balance, and My Vodafone is the one I use to check how much Data I have left. I read my University books on iBooks, listen to 'RuPaul: what's the tee' on podcasts, and other than that it's just the usual phone stuff.

Bottom Row:
Phone, Safari, Mail, Spotify

Second Page:
Facebook, Messenger, Groups, Twitter,
Tumblr, Outlook, Snapchat, YahooMail
Netflix, YouTube, eBay, Instagram
WhatsApp, Idiot Box, Indeed Jobs

The apps I probably use most out of all of these are Netflix and YouTube (you can see my current Netflix favourites here and my favourite YouTube channels here) as I tend to spend a lot of my time watching something or other in the background whilst I am doing Uni work or other things

Idiot Box is an app that I downloaded around a month ago and nobody has been able to find it on the app store once I've told them about it, but to explain; it is an app where you add any shows you're watching and use it to keep track of which episodes you've seen and which ones you haven't.

After these apps I just have a few folders which I will list below.

The Trail, Tinker Island, Taps to Riches

I don't tend to play games on my phone too often as I'm more often on my laptop during the day due to University stuff, but when I am I like these games as I can go on them whenever I feel like.

Raffler, Days, FreePrints,
Kickstarter, WeHeartIt, Wishopoly,
Virgin Red, iMDB, Buzzfeed,
BBC News, Superdrug, Amazon

My favourites out of this bunch of apps have to be; iMDB, Buzzfeed and BBC News.

Raffler- this is an app that I recently downloaded, each day, in reward for watching two ad's  you are entered into a daily raffle, with a chance to win anything from £100.

*Before downloading this app I did my own research into the app, please do the same yourself before thinking of downloading the app.*

Ananlytics, Gmail, Bloglovin
Wantfeed, PS Express, Spark Post,
Pinterest, AllWomensTalk

Health: (Or as I call them, the most useful apps on my phone)
Nomie, Headspace, Sleep Cycle

Nomie is an app that helps you keep track of habits, for example, I drink coffee, and I am a smoker, so I decided that I wanted to keep an accurate track of how much I was drinking coffee and smoking daily. It's so simple to use and you can adjust the positivity of the activity, for example with both smoking and drinking coffee, I have it set so that the more I do it the more negatively the data is shown.

Sleep Cycle is an amazing app and I honestly think that without it I would have never woken up for work in the past. It tracks your sleep using the microphone on your phone, or can use the accelerometer instead, and gradually wakes you up within a half hour period of your alarm time, when you are in your lightest sleep. I have never been a morning person and do not react well when suddenly woken up, or when woken up at all for that matter! But this alarm starts low and gradually gets louder, easing you out of your sleep.

Uni Stuff:
OU Anywhere, iTunes U, UNiDAYS

I use OU Anywhere to download the books or chapters of books that I need to read for my degree, iTunes U I don't really use because I don't have the time, and UNiDAYS is amazing for student discounts!

Thanks again for reading,  as life is very hectic at the minute but I'm wanting to still keep blogging, the problem is that I am struggling with thinking of things to write about so please do leave a comment with some suggestions.

My Current Favourite YouTuber's

For years now I've spent my free time watching YouTube videos and during this time my tastes in videos and YouTuber's has changed, today I'm writing a post about my favourite YouTuber's at the moment.

I won't be discussing channels with MILLIONS of subscribers such as Unbox Therapy (who by the way if you haven't heard of, you should go watch) and Zoella. Instead i'll be posting about smaller, but definitely not worse YouTubers who I love.

Links to all channels that I discuss will be added to this post.

JaackMaate aka Jack Dean: I have watched Jack's videos for as long as I can remember, and before anyone goes off to watch his videos, I would advise not to if you are easily offended. I find him absolutely hillarious and I love the frequency of his uploads (every Monday and Thursday).

On a positive side Jack isn't afraid to speak about issues that some YouTuber's will avoid out of not wanting to cause conflict. Jack also has a series on his channel called 'Jaack Chat' where he interviews celebrities, his most recent being Ricky Gervais which was bloody brilliant.

Jack also has a vlogging channel and a football channel if you are more interested in those types of videos.

VelvetGh0st aka Gabriella Lindley: I watch all of Gabby's videos and I love every single one, she uploads a huge range of different vidoes, some of my favourites are; My Weight Loss Surgery, Full Face Using Kid's Makeup, and her most recent Primark Haul. Also, any videos where she sings as her voice is amazing but her cover is Niall Horan- This Town is my favourite so far.

Gabby also has a vlog chanel where she posts random days out her life, I love watching Gabby's vlogs as they're so full of honesty its refreshing and I always leave Gabby's videos wishing that she was my friend!

DaintyDressDiaries aka Catherine Carton: Now Catherine only uploaded her first YouTube video on the 5th of November, but I am SO happy that she did. I have followed her on snapchat for a while now and she is amazing.

Also she runs a blog which you can find here. I have only gotten around to watching one of Catherine's videos so far but her second is waiting patiently in my watch later list ready for when I finally get to it, it's a kitchen tour, her house is basically my dream home and her cat Blondie is the most beautiful cat I have ever laid eyes on.

Chris Stuckmann: This is currently my go-to channel before I watch any movie, I tend to like to find out wether or not a film is worth watching before I bother, and Chris' reviews in my opinion are always spot on. If any of his videos contain spoilers he will make sure the word spoiler is in the video title and is really good at explaining generally what the film is about without ruining the whole thing.

My favourite video by Chris at the minute is this year's Halloween Special. I don't watch every single video Chris uploads, I tend to just watch his reviews of films that I am interested in watching at the time, or films that I have watched as I am always interested in seeing what people thought of films I loved/hated.

RoseEllenDix and TheRoxetera aka Rose Ellen Dix and Rosie Spaughton: I've paired these two together because, you pretty much don't get one without the other. They're a married couple who mak the most insanely random videos I've ever seen and I am obsessed with them. They also sometimes interview celebrities, you can see their recent video with Tom Hanks, Ron Howard and Irraf Khan here.

When I first came accross both chanels I went back and watched almost all of their videos together, and as soon as they upload a video, I ignore my 150 odd long 'watch later' list and watch their video as soon as I get the change. They also have a gaming chanel where you can witness their hillarious attempts at playing games. Give them a watch and you won't regret it.

Thank you for reading, if you liked this post I would be more than happy to do another at some point as I'm always finding new YouTube channels to watch. Please leave a comment below on what you think of these YouTuber;'s, or some recommendations of new people for me to watch.

Current Netflix Favourites
Image result for netflix logo

So as I currently have a lot of free time due to part-time studying and looking for work, I find myself watching Netflix a lot. I watch very few films as I prefer TV series that I can really get into and recommend to my friends and family.

I will leave a link to each shows iMDB page as I always check the reviews on iMDB before watching, and a lot of the time during when I have one of those 'where do I recognise that actor/actress from?' moments.

Black Mirror: Season 4 of this has just been put on Netflix and am not too proud to admit that I watched the enitre season in this order- watch, sleep, wake up and watch more, and I was massively impressed. This show gets better by the season season, and each time I still find myself thinking 'they wont be able to top this'. I am a huge fan of anything scary or creepy but whilst home alone the other night I had to turn this off and watch it in the morning so be warned anyone who isn't a fan of anything scary (although the only one I have actually found scary isnt until the 2nd episode of the 4th season so you're safe up until then).

The best way I can describe Black Mirror is by saying that it is a future based TV show that looks at the dark side of technology. For example in season 1 there is an episode called 'the entire history of you' the characters in the episode all have a chip inserted into their neck, this chip records everything they do, the episode looks at the positives of this; never forgetting someone you've met, never forgetting memories of things such as weddings and births. The show then looks at the negatives of this also (I would give an example but I don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't yet seen it).

RuPaul's Drag Race: I've seen season 2 through to Season 7 of RuPaul's drag race and I honestly cannot explain how much I love this show. It is hilarious and RuPaul is absolutely amazing.

For anyone who isn't familiar with the show, RuPaul's drag race is, in my opinion similar to America's Next Top Model and Skin Wars. Hosted by RuPaul- the most famous drag queen in the world, who brings in 14 drag queens from around America, to compete to be crowned America's drag queen superstar. The queen's must create runway looks and take part in challenges that involve acting, singing, dancing and impersonations. Each week a queen is eliminated based on their performance in the main challenge, and on their runway looks. Once it gets down to just 3 remaining queens a Reunion episode is held where all queens are bought back and discuss the season, before the winner is crowned.

American Horror Story: I have seen seasons 1 to 5 of American Horror Story, as each season is different I will not be describing each of them, as this post would be far too long if I did this, but you can find a brief description about each season on the iMDB page. My favourite seasons have been 1 ,2 and 5. My least favourite season was season 3. As is in the name, this is a horror type show so I wouldn't advise anyone who doesn't like horror to watch it. Each season is alike in the sense that the episodes flick between the past and the present to give more depth and explanation to the story. Also side note, since starting to write this post they've FINALLY put season 5 onto netflix which means I can re-watch it. Yay!

Gilmore Girls: I'll admit, before now I had only ever watched a few episodes of Gilmore girls, but I have finally started (binge)watching it on netflix and I am obsessed with it. I feel like this show does not need explanation as everyone and their mother has seen the show, but to put it briefly; it follows a single mother and daughter on the various difficulties they face and overcome in their relationship. The relationship between Lorelai and Rory Gilmore is funny and touching and watching it now makes me wonder why on earth I was so late to the Gilmore party. The characters are brilliant and the show really made me feel like I wanted to live in Stars Hollow along with all the residents.

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend: I have a hugely confusing love-hate relationship with this show, the best way I could possibly describe it would be to call it; a part musical, part satirical/comedy show about a girl who abandons her life and moves from New York to West Covina because of a run-in with her childhood boyfriend. There is an insane amount of musical numbers in the show and it is so over dramatic that it makes me want to laugh and roll my eyes at the same time. Although, that being said I've been watching the new season each Saturday religiously and I seriously want them to continue making the show after Season 2.

That's all the shows I'm going to talk about this time but if you would like a part 2, or a 'current amazon video favourites' please let me know in the comments. I'd also love to hear some feedback on what you think of the shows mentioned if you've seen any of them, or what shows you're planning on watching after reading this.

I hope you enjoyed this post, and if you haven't already, you can also have a look at my previous posts.

10 facts about me.
Welcome, or welcome back if you read my previous post. I decided to do an introduction type post, so without further ado, here are 10 facts about me:

01) I am currently in my first year of 6 with The Open University working towards a degree in Psychology with Counselling.

02) I have two sisters - one is three years younger than me, the other is five years older than me.

03) I have what I always call very 'real' dreams, and used to confuse them with memories a lot when I was younger.

04) I am the worst morning person ever. If I don't set alarms or ask people to wake me when they get up I will sleep for most of the day. This is something I would like to change.

05) I have a German Shepherd called Elsa (who by the way was not named after Disney's Elsa)

06) My goal for the future is to have a job that I love, working from home or a job that will fit easily around my life and future children, also to have my own office in my home.

07) I hate silence, it makes me uncomfortable and I feel as though I have to fill it by talking, usually about something unimportant or uninteresting.

08) I never learnt my times tables and only within the past few years, started to master reading a clock. For some reason these are things I just didn't pick up well as a child.

09) My favourite animal is the Giant Panda and I was so happy when I found out that they are no longer endangered, I also saw one at Edinburgh Zoo last year and almost cried with happiness. (They have been downgraded from Endangered to Vulnerable)

10) My favourite place to go away is to my Grandparent's, they live in a village and it's such a beautiful area, me and my partner go every year. It's so relaxing being there and I feel so comfortable there as my family used to go up to visit a lot when I was young.

I hope you enjoyed this insight into my life, as I found this very difficult to do, it's hard to think of interesting things to say about yourself without over sharing. I would love it if you left an interesting fact about yourself in the comment box below.
